The Word Tipi means dwelling. Nomadic tribes of the Great Plains created & lived in them. The Tipi existed as a cultural context that allowed human civilisation to be at one with the natural world.Originally made out of animal skins and wooden poles. The Tipi was warm in the winter, Cool in the summer & dry during heavy rains. They can be disassembled and reconstructed quickly as the hunter tribes required the ability to change locations and settle in a new area. All Tipi’s would be placed East facing for the morning sunrise! The beauty and simplicity of the design represent family and community, The old ways.Which were shared in essence by ancient indigenous cultures all over the world.
